The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Texas Neurology

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Texas Neurology cares for patients with seizures and related disorders.

The Center’s services include outpatient and inpatient consultative services, an inpatient epilepsy-monitoring unit, brain mapping, epilepsy surgery, and intraoperative electrocorticography. The center, which serves the North Texas area places great attention upon meeting the comprehensive needs of individuals with seizure disorders. The epilepsy program utilizes the inpatient epilepsy monitoring program at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.

The Center's extensive program offers expert help to:
  • Adults and teenagers with seizure disorders who have not yet been definitively diagnosed
  • Those who have already had a diagnosis of epilepsy but are seeking improved management or control
The Center's goals are to help patients understand epilepsy, learn about the latest therapy options and make informed decisions about their treatment. Through achieving these goals, a person learns about treatment options for the present and future.

The Center's program includes a combination of services for inpatient and outpatient care. Services include:
  • Diagnosis of epilepsy and related conditions
  • Establishment of a medication plan considering factors such as seizure control, behavioral/cognitive manifestations and toxicity
  • A four-bed epilepsy unit with on-line computer analysis for continuous EEG and video monitoring
  • Clinical trials of investigational drugs
  • Evaluation of intractable seizures for the surgical treatment option
  • Preoperative and postoperative care following epilepsy surgery
  • Psychosocial assessments and rehabilitation referrals
  • Educational and social support groups
  • EEG Testing (routine and long-term monitoring)
  • 1.5T and 3T MRI utilizing advanced brain imaging technologies
